Arts Libris focuses on the artist's edition in the field of art and graphic experimentation, providing a meeting point for professionals and aficionado's, hosting small exhibitions, discussions and presentations.
In the context of Sant Jordi International Day of the Book, a popular Catalan tradition with the biggest book street fair in Barcelona, Arts Libris aims to become in time a major event.

Improvisations on Urbanity

In this publication trendy pragmatism coincides with the improvisation of jazz music. The result is a plan of action to constructively deal with disorder in urbanism. Improvisation acknowledges disorder and works with existing potentials. Improvisation means, therefore, to work with reality but at the same time, create reality.
In a time where diverse life forms and rational principals coexist, urbanism becomes more and more inoperative. As the urban becomes even more complex, we have to begin to reflect upon how orders are created and negotiated. This means that orders are not given, but have to be improvised. The urban is designed by a performative imperative. If the subject of industrialism was governed by corporate regulations, it now has to govern itself. But how does that work? How do we create new forms of self-governing? How do we organize and produce social space under these circumstances?

Mona Vatamanu & Florin Tudor / Surplus Value

The opening of Surplus Value, a solo exhibition by Mona Vatamanu and Florin Tudor, organized by BAK, basis voor actuele kunst, takes place on Saturday 5 September 2009 at 16.00 hrs at Lange Nieuwstraat 4, Utrecht.

Surplus Value presents a selection of Romanian artists Mona Vatamanu and Florin Tudor's works from the last decade, as well as major new productions made especially for this show. On the occasion of Surplus Value, BAK and post editions release the monographic publication Mona Vatamanu and Florin Tudor.

The exhibition is curated by Cosmin Costinas and is on view from 6 September to 9 November 2009.

Pages nominated for AICA Charter Publications 2006-2007

PagesThe jury of the International Association of Art Critics (AICA) section Netherlands has nominated Pages in the category Publications 2006-2007.

Pages, a bilingual, Farsi and English, magazine, initiated by Iranian artists Nasrin Tabatabai and Babak Afrassiabi, that aims to function as a platform for exchange.

Pages 5 en Pages 6 have previously been awarded as 'Best Dutch Book Design'.

Pages, distributed by episode publishers since 2004, is now distributed by and available at post editions.

The 11th Epson Photo Festival Naarden is scheduled between May 16 and June 14 2009 on various locations in the fortificated small town Naarden-Vesting (NL). There is also an off festival program.
